Boise Airport

  • Is "Boise Air Terminal (Gowen Field)" the same as Boise Airport?

Boise Air Terminal (Gowen Field) is the same as Boise Airport. The name was given to us in the 1940s and is used by the FAA and airlines.

  • Is Boise Airport called Boise International Airport?

While we COULD be called 'International,' we have not amended the airport name at this time. In 2011, Boise Airport completed construction of our U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility. It serves to process passengers and cargo from outside the United States, providing BOI 'port city' status. However, without non-stop passenger flights to or from an international city, the 'International' moniker seems misleading.

  • What time does the airport open?

Boise Airport is open 24/7/365. Ticket counters, the concourses, concessions, and car rental counters do have hours of operation. These services are often open at least an hour prior to the first departure. Parking facility and building entrances are open 24 hours a day, 7 days week, 365 days a year.

Confirm the counter hours with your airline or car rental company.

  • How can I apply for a job at Boise Airport?

Each company does its own hiring. If you want to work for an airline, each airline hires its staff. The car rental companies, restaurants, news and gift shops, and parking also do their own hiring.

If you are interested in a job with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), you can find more information at http://www.tsa.gov/.

If you are interested in working in Airport administration, operations, police, business, project management, custodial, or maintenance, you must go through the City of Boise Human Resource Department. Click on "Departments" on the top menu.

  • Can Boise Airport make a travel reservation for me?

No. Boise Airport is a department of the City of Boise and is the property manager of the airport. We have no control of an airlines schedule, ticket prices, ticket counter hours, or other airline operations. If you need to make a reservation, change a reservation, or have other customer service needs, please contact your airline or a travel agent for further assistance.

  • Does Boise Airport have a currency exchange?

No. Without nonstop international flights, Boise Airport does not support a currency exchange. Please check with your banking institution.

  • Where can I get a map of the terminal building?

Visit our Terminal Map page under the Airport Guide tab above for details.

  • Does Boise Airport provide tours?

Yes. Visit our Tour page for more details.

  • Does Boise Airport have a lost and found?

Yes. It is located on the third floor of terminal building in Airport Operations, 208-383-3110. If you believe you left something on the airplane, please contact your airline.

  • Does Boise Airport have lockers?

No. Due to security restrictions and the nature of Boise Airport, we do not have enough activity for it be financially feasible for a vendor.

  • Does the Boise Airport have a TSA Pre√™ screening lane?

Yes! Travelers not already qualified by their airline status and interested in participating can check the TSA website for information on the enrollment process www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/. The application center is located at 222 S. Cole Road, Boise, ID 83709. Please check the website for hours.

Parking & Ground Transporation

  • How do I get to Boise Airport?

Visit our  Getting to BOI page for details.

  • Can I wait at the curb for an arriving passenger?

Due to federal security regulations, there is no waiting at the curbside. The curb is for active loading and unloading only. There are hefty fines for ignoring the curbside restrictions.

During the Garage Expansion Project, the cell phone area, normally located west of the entrance for short term parking, is gone. Please use the Economy Lot on Victory Road for 20 minutes of free parking while awaiting your passenger. Vehicles may not be left unattended. When contacted, you may pull up to the curb only if your party is there ready and waiting.  Please allow approximately 30 minutes for your party to deplane and collect baggage.

  • How much is parking? What time do the parking lots open?

Visit our Parking/Ground Transit page for more details.

  • Can I park my bicycle at the airport?

Yes.  We have bicycle racks at each end of the lower (arrivals) level of the terminal.

  • How much is taxi fare to downtown, Caldwell, Nampa, etc.?

The rate varies. We suggest you contact a local cab company for rates and charges. Qwest phone directory.

Airlines

  • Does my airline have a local telephone number?

Airlines do not have local telephone numbers for customer service. The airline staff is focused on assisting passengers who are physically in the terminal. If you need reservation, flight information, baggage, or other customer service assistance, you can find the airline contact information by clicking on Airlines & Flight Information on the left menu.

  • How early should I arrive for my flight?

Airlines on the average suggest at least 90 minutes prior to departure (2 hours during holiday or busy travel seasons). Allow yourself enough time to account for traffic delays, and to get checked-in and through the security checkpoint. You should be at your gate when boarding begins, which is at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Airlines also have cut-off times for baggage check-in, often 30 minutes prior to departure. Confirm these and other time restrictions with your airline.

  • Where can I get up-to-date flight arrival/departure information?

Click the "Flight Information" tab on the top menu. You can also find information on the airline's website.

In Boise Airport, flight information displays are located in Rotunda (1st and 2nd floors), ticket lobby, and on the B concourse (Gates B10 & B16).

Traveling with Children & Pets

  • Does my child need an ID to travel?

Children under the age of 18 do not require an ID. TSA has a public web site that has additional information about traveling with children http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm. Also confirm with your airline. There restrictions and guidelines for children traveling alone, traveling international, traveling with a guardian, etc.

  • Is my infant considered a carry-on?

No. However, if your infant is flying with you and does not have his or her own seat, many airlines have an age limit and may require proof of  the child's age. Please confirm the regulations and limitations with your airline.

  • Is my pet considered a carry-on?

Yes. There are several restrictions and limitations regarding pets flying in the airplane cabin and as cargo.  Confirm the regulations, limitations, and fees with your airline.

Baggage (Checked & Carry-on)

  • How many carry-on bags can I take? Is there a limit for checked bags? What is the baggage weight limit? How much does it cost to go over the limit?

This information varies by airline. You will need to contact your airline for this information.

  • What items are not allowed on an airplane?

Visit the Transportation Security Administration web site, http://www.tsa.gov/ for more details.
