Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp Retiring From City of Boise Following Transformational Leadership

Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp, A.A.E., has announced plans to retire from the City of Boise after 14 years of dedicated leadership, effective June 19, 2026.

Hupp led the Boise Airport during a period of extraordinary growth for both the airport and the Treasure Valley, helping guide an 82 percent increase in passenger traffic over the past decade.

Under her leadership, the airport completed major infrastructure projects, expanded air service opportunities and helped attract private-sector investment to the airport.

Hupp also built a high-performing airport team focused on employee engagement, continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence.

“Serving the Boise community and leading this exceptional airport team has been the honor of a lifetime,” said Hupp. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the partnerships, employees and community support that have helped Boise Airport continue to grow and thrive.”

Following her retirement from the City of Boise, Hupp will begin a new chapter in her more than 30-year aviation career with an aviation construction company based in Dallas, Texas, allowing for a better balance between her professional and personal priorities.

Mayor Lauren McLean praised Hupp’s leadership and lasting impact on Boise Airport and the region.

"Rebecca has had an incredible tenure at the Boise Airport through strong leadership and clear vision that has welcomed unprecedented and seamless growth," said Mayor Lauren McLean. "Her contributions to Boise, both professionally and personally, will have a lasting impact on our community."

City leadership and the airport’s senior staff will work together to oversee the leadership transition process. Boise Airport Deputy Director of Finance and Business Development Kathleen Watkins will serve as interim director. Additional information regarding recruitment efforts will be shared in the coming weeks.

Airport operations, strategic initiatives and ongoing projects will continue without interruption during the transition.
