www.iflyboise.com focus is on flexibility
The Boise Airport is one of the first
City departments to undergo a major redesign of its website to
accommodate the greater use of mobile devices. The former website
design was built prior to the explosion of personal Wi-Fi enabled
technology, providing limited use on the plethora of newer PC
devices.
With the emphasis on improving our customers' experience and
providing up-to-the-minute information, the Boise Airport website
now displays air fares related directly to Boise with fare browser
airfarewatchdog. Flight arrival and departure tabs on the homepage
provide customized flight detail with a quick click on the flight
number, and real-time tracking provided viaFlightStats.
"By moving away from a static web design to this fluid model, the
City of Boise and all its departments, from Legal to the Airport,
now has the necessary flexibility to provide the information that
our public requires in an ever-changing business environment,"
noted IT and Interim Airport Director Garry Beaty.
Also new to the iflyboise.com homepage is a weather icon that,
when clicked, drops down to provide almost as much information as a
local meteorologist! A convenient search engine was added to assist
web users locate ticket counter hours, parking rates, bike racks
and links to Boise area/regional venues.
The Airport website redesign was completed in-house by the City of
Boise Information Technology Department. With the simplified
website template and Umbraco Content Management System, website
maintenance and updates can now be made on-site within minutes by
the designated Airport staff.
Feedback on the new Boise Airport website is both requested and
encouraged. That feedback can be sent through Twitter (@iflyboise),
facebook (Boise-Airport), through the Airport email at boi@cityofboise.org - all
accessible from links via the Airport website!
