Bill Connors, Boise
Metro Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, was appointed
October 2010 to the Airport Commission by Mayor Bieter to fulfill
the vacancy left with the passing of Commissioner Ed Stimpson.
In his role as Chief Staff Officer for the regional Chamber of
Commerce, Mr Connors guides one of the largest business
organization in Idaho - made up of more than 1,800 area businesses
that represent more than 80,000 employees. The Chamber is a
non-profit membership organization that provides education,
networking and advocacy for the business community. More than 90%
of its members are small businesses. In addition, Mr Connors sits
on the board for the Boise Valley Economic Partnership (BVEP),
housed at the Chamber, which works to expand and retain Valley
businesses, while seeking to attract new business to the
region.
Mr Connors moved to Boise Valley after a distinguished career in
the travel and tourism industry, most recently serving as Executive
Director for the National Business Travel Association in
Alexandria, Virginia. He received his B.A. from St. Lawrence
University in New York, and holds a Master of Arts in Political
Science from the College of St. Rose (NY) and Masters in three
disciplines - Education, Counseling and Administration from
Plattsburgh State University (NY).
With an extensive background in professional travel and aviation
related services, Mr Connors has and continues to serve on the
board for agencies such as the US Travel Association and the
Convention Industry Council. He was honored to be the Presidential
Appointee to the Aviation Security Advisory Committee and the Next
Generation Air Transportation Institute Management Council. As
representative of those and other agencies, Mr Connors has
testified in Congress on aviation, travel, and security issues.
