Therapy Dogs Will Visit The Boise Airport This Holiday Season Welcoming Travelers

With the busy holiday travel season upon us, the Boise Airport has invited some furry friends to the airport to make holiday travel brighter.

The GO TEAM Therapy, Crisis & Airport Dogs - Team Idaho will visit the Boise Airport between December 20-31, with the exception of Christmas Day. These bundles of joy and their handlers will be located in pre-security areas welcoming arriving and departing passengers.

“Sometimes seeing and petting a happy dog wagging its tail at you is all it takes to relieve holiday stress levels,” said DeAnn Stoolman, GO TEAM Coordinator.

Holiday Schedule for GO TEAM Dogs:
Teams typically stay for 90 minutes during each visit
December 20: 9:30 a.m.
December 21: 11:00 a.m.
December 21: 3:00 p.m.
December 22: 3:00 p.m.
December 23: 11:00 a.m.
December 23: 3:30 p.m.
December 24: 11:30 a.m.
December 27: 11:00 a.m.

December 29: 3:30 p.m.
December 30: 10:30 a.m.
December 31: 11:30 a.m.

With Christmas less than a week away, the Boise Airport also wants to remind travelers of a few tips to make their holiday flight a breeze.

TSA Pre✓
If you’re a TSA Pre✓ passenger who hasn’t flown in a few months, be prepared to enter the security checkpoint from a new location. Earlier this year, the Boise Airport added an additional lane to the TSA Checkpoint. The new TSA Pre✓ lane is now located on the right side of the checkpoint, instead of its previous location on the left.

Parking
With a record number of passengers traveling in 2019, the airport’s close-in parking could reach capacity around the holidays. The airport encourages passengers to utilize the economy (shuttle) parking lot, located at 5600 W. Victory Road. The free shuttle runs every 15 minutes and can be tracked in real-time by downloading the “Ride Systems” app and choosing “Boise Airport”.

Travelers can also reserve a parking space in the lower level of the short-term garage, near the terminal. Quantities are limited and require passengers to enter an estimated arrival and departure date/time. There is a $3.50 fee charged during the reservation process, then passengers pay standard short-term parking fees when exiting the garage after their trip. Reservations can be made through the ParkMobile App.

Pack Smart
Passengers are encouraged to wrap their holiday presents after they reach their destination or use gift bags as an alternative. This prevents items that may require additional TSA inspection from being unwrapped during the screening process. Passengers should also be aware of what is not permitted in carry-on and checked luggage. If a passenger is unsure, they can visit the TSA’s “What Can I Bring” tool online.

Arrive Early
The Boise Airport recommends passengers arrive two hours before their departure time during the holiday season. This gives passengers ample time to park, check-in and pass through the security checkpoint.
