BOI Makes Summer Travel Easier with Inclusive New Amenities and Updated Retail Choices
As the busy summer travel season kicks off, the Boise Airport has exciting announcements about brand-new services and amenities to assist travelers with disabilities, new retail shops with convenient grab-and-go food options, and some advice on how to reduce stress when traveling through the airport.
In 2024, nearly 5 million passengers traveled to and from Boise through the airport, a record for the third year in a row.
NEW ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES
- Visual paging: Announcements, alerts and other important messages will be displayed on screens throughout the terminal as they are being broadcast over the loudspeakers. This ensures that passengers who are deaf or hard of hearing receive the same messages as hearing passengers.
- Adult changing table: A private, convenient space located on the B Concourse in the new family restrooms for caregivers to provide personal care to their travel companions.
- Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program: Provides lanyards embellished with sunflowers to passengers who might need additional time, patience or assistance while traveling due to an unseen disability.
“The Boise Airport is the most-visited city building and we are proud to offer accessibility features commonly found at larger airports,” said Rebecca Hupp, director of the Boise Airport. “Boise is truly a city for everyone, and the airport is a reflection of that commitment.”
NEW FOOD, BEVERAGE AND RETAIL
The airport’s new concessions are beginning to open! Both Boise Depot (Concourse C) and Sawtooth Essentials (Concourse B) retail stores are now available for grab-and-go food, souvenirs and travel necessities. Travel@Ease vending machines will soon open on Concourse B and will offer 24-hour access to a wide variety of grab-and-go foods.
Idaho Tap House, Treefort Food+Drink and Waffle Me Up/The STIL are scheduled to open in July.
KNOW YOUR PARKING OPTIONS
The airport strongly recommends checking the capacity of garages and parking lots before passengers arrive by using this website.
The airport has three parking garages and long-term surface parking that provide more than 3,300 close-in parking spaces. Parking costs range from $15-$20 per day.
The lowest daily parking rate is $10/day at the Economy Parking Lot, located at Victory and Orchard (5600 W. Victory Rd.). It has more than 1,800 parking spaces and is serviced by a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes.
To guarantee that parking will be available when they arrive, passengers can reserve parking in advance or use the valet service provided by The Car Park.
ARRIVE EARLY
Passengers should check with their airlines to verify the status of their flight before arriving at the airport. The Boise Airport encourages passengers to arrive 1.5 to two hours before their flight to give themselves ample time to check-in with their airline and clear the security checkpoint before the flight.
All passengers 18+ are required to have REAL ID (Star Card), or other acceptable form of identification to go through the TSA checkpoint and board their commercial flight. Here’s how to get an Idaho Star Card.
TSA also encourages passengers to double check their carry-on luggage to ensure that restricted items are not packed. If you have any question about what items are allowed in your baggage, please reference the TSA’s comprehensive guidance on permitted items.
The Boise Airport is committed to providing a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers. By following these tips, you can help start your summer vacation off stress-free. Happy travels!
